Ubi steps out with Hapu Ya

Fast-rising Afro-fusion singer, Kimberley Inikpi, professionally known as Ubi, has unveiled her lead single, Hapu Ya, which foreshadows her forthcoming debut EP expected this first quarter.

Ubi, whose fine mix of Afro-pop, RnB and Hip-hop, waxes as a vibrant singer among the new wave of musicians in the country. With Hapu Ya, she unleashes a groovy sing-along theme song, which captivates the listener with all shades of excitement.

Produced by the sound whiz, Beatpriet, and engineered by PTDmix, Hapu Ya is an audacious glimpse into the foundational works of Ubi’s equally daring discography.

She tells Weekend Beats that her roots in Lagos honed her music style and direction.

“I grew up on a sonic diet of various genres — notably Afrobeats, hip-hop and R&B. Music, for me, is liberating myself. It is a medium for me to express my true self,” she said.
