Tech community tasks Abiodun on digital economy

Ogun State governor Dapo Abiodun

Ogun tech community has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to prioritise the digital economy in the state and invest in programmes that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development in the sector.

President of the community, Durosinmi Adekunle, in a statement, expressed concern over the possibility of reduced investment in the digital economy and its impact on the state’s economic development.

While emphasising that the digital economy had been a driving force for growth and job creation in Ogun State, Adekunle advised the governor to maintain commitment to the sector, ensuring that he continued to foster an environment where tech businesses could thrive.

He stressed the need for infrastructure development, including improved connectivity and power supply, to support the growth of the digital economy. He also called for the creation of a digital skills training programme to equip young people with the necessary skills to participate in the digital economy.

Adekunle also said the tech community had given its support to a foremost school management solution provider, Edutams. Reacting to the initiative, the tech community president maintained that Edutams could help to improve access to technology in rural areas and provide training and support for educators, using technology in the classroom.

While commending Edutams founder, Dr Ademola Adenubi, Adekunle said the new initiative could be used to advocate policies that support the use of technology in education.

“Ogun tech community has identified several key areas where Edutams can make a difference. Edutams can help to connect local entrepreneurs with global markets.

“By working together, the Ogun tech community and Edutams can make a real difference in the lives of Nigerians.”

“In short, the Ogun tech community believes that Edutams is uniquely positioned to make a real difference in the country, and it is excited to work together to advance educational technology in Nigeria,” he said.
