Bringing together leaders from different parts of the country, including religious clerics, traditional kings and political leaders, the launch of the luxurious mosque, Masjid Muhammad Rosullulah Islamic Centre, along Ogulana Drive in Surulere recently where Muslim faithful can observe prayers in a serene environment has been applauded by members of the community.

The shortage of mosques along major roads in Lagos State prompted Sheikh Ahmad Al Muktar to call on Muslim philanthropies to synergise and build the mosque.

Speaking at the event, Sheikh Ahmad Al Muktar said the mosque has continuously played an active role in the guidance of the Muslim community. “The project was a collective effort and was successful through generous support from traditional rulers and Muslim philanthropists. So many people travel to Saudi for hajj and umrah due to how neat and beautiful the place is, so why can’t we have such beautiful mosques in our state? This is why I broke the jinx and built an ultra-modern mosque along Ogulana Drive.”

While appreciating those who supported the initiative to fruition he said, “I was able to achieve the milestone through contribution from Muslim philanthropists who donated towards the project.” Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla: “If you look at the environment, you will see that there is no Mosque, most especially in Ogunlana Drive. Alhamdulillah, we now have one that the Muslims in the vicinity can pray in.”

He also appealed to the Muslims to synergise, collaborate and support the organisation to maintain the mosque.

The Chief host, Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal praised Allah (SWT) who made the project to see the light of the day. He said: “I remember vividly the project started on January 2, 2023, and exactly a year after, we have a befitting mosque facility, so I must commend the foundation, group and community for coming together to achieve this.”

He urged Muslim philanthropists to collaborate and do more of this project. “It is a challenge this project has inspired us, a lot of us have to do more to ensure we have this kind of mosque across our various kingdoms.”

Present at the event are the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, Sheikh Sulaiman Onikijipa, Sheik Adam Abdullah Al Illory, Sheikh Yahyah Agboola, Sheikh Abdul Qadr Bukhari, Ojora of Ijora, Lagos, Oba Abdul Fattah Aromire; Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal; Oloworo of Oworo Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Saliu; Adimula of Awori Kingdom, Oba Sulaiman Adekunle among others.
