A senior lawyer, Chief Charles Uwensuyi-Edosomwan (SAN) has tasked stakeholders to prioritise education and mental health for a better life and society.
He made the call at the ceremony of his conferment of the Doctor of laws Honoris Causa, organised by the pioneer class of law, University of Benin, held at Nordic Hotel, Victoria lsland, Lagos.
According to him, Nigeria needs to revamp its current education with the programmes, policies and modern technology.
This, he said, is to remain abreast with latest innovations despite the total neglect by successive governments.
He added that the rot and decay in the educational sector is due to the neglect of successive governments.
Dr. Edosomwan pointed out that “the social media is a veritable tool for learning in the 2lst century, though it has its disadvantages, if not well utilised.
He urged the citizens to be patient and work with the government to revive the educational system.
As for mental health, he advised Nigerians not to engage in activities that are detrimental or can trigger their emotions.
“Parents and caregivers should listen and spend more quality time with their children to know and understand them well,” he advised.
Former governor of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) encouraged the pioneer class of law, University of Benin and guests to continue to remain as peaceful, happy and law-abiding people in the society.
Fashola said that he was elated by the reunion, which took him down the memory lane.
He also appreciated the guests, pioneer class of law, University of Benin and other dignitaries who joined the event virtually.
