Rotary donates borehole to Lagos community

Rotary Club of New Lagos Ikeja has donated a borehole to residents of the Iju-Ishaga community in the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council of Lagos State to alleviate their water challenges.

The water project was commissioned, yesterday, as part of the club’s commitment to providing clean and accessible water to communities.

President of the Club, Omolara Akinbami Ojo, said the project, meant to commemorate the water and sanitation month in the Rotary calendar year, was initiated to address the water scarcity issues faced by residents of Iju-Ishaga.

She thanked club members, partners, donors, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the project, especially the local authorities for their support and cooperation.


Ojo, who encouraged people of the community to make judicious use of the project, charged them to protect it from vandals.

A community leader and Chairman of IfakoIjaiye CDC, Pastor Samuel Olu Opajobi, thanked the club and its members for their support towards building a borehole water project for them.

Also, Baale of the community, Olajide Adeshina, said the borehole commissioning is a testament to the Rotary Club of New Lagos Ikeja’s dedication to service and community development.

He promised that they would do all in their power to ensure the project is well maintained.
