Rivers police arrest officers assaulting man in viral video

A statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, yesterday, said the Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka condemned the police assault and brutality of the man in a video trending on the social media.

She said the policemen in the video have been identified and arrested.

According to Iringe-Koko: “They are currently at the Command undergoing trial for their unprofessional act which will serve as deterrent to other police personnel.”


She, however, appealed to the victim to come forward to the Public Relations Department, Rivers State Police Command to give his own statement so as to aid conclusion of the investigations and his identity will be protected.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police had assured members of the public that the police operatives will be investigated in line with extant rules underlying the conduct of police personnel and appropriate sanctions meted accordingly.
