Nigerian-American rapper Wale has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share his favourite Nigerian dish: yam and egg.
In a post that has captured the attention of food lovers and his fans, Wale proclaimed, “Yam and Egg the most underrated naij delicacy. I swear.”
The dish, which pairs boiled or fried yam with a savoury egg sauce, is a common sight in Nigerian households.
Wale wrote, “Hot takes. (Please don’t jump me) Jollof rice is for children. Rice and stew is where it’s at. Eba is superior to amala. Idk when jollof spaghetti came out but it’s goin platinum ever since its arrival. Ayamase with out egg is a crime. Yam and Egg the most underrated naij delicacy . I swear. (Small small sugar on the yam).”
Asides from Wale, Ayra Starr is another celebrity that has openly expressed her love for yam and egg. She revealed that she has been eating fried yam and eggs almost every day for the past two years. According to her, yam and eggs is her favourite meal, disclosing this in a recent interview with MTV.
“I love fried yam and eggs so much. When I like something I’m going to eat it till I’m sick of it. I’m not even joking. I’ve been eating yam and eggs almost every day for two years now and it still bangs” she said.
