The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have settled their age-long feud over recruitment exercise and promotion, among others.

This was achieved with the visit of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and his management team to the office of the chairman of the Commission, Dr Solomon Arase.

The Guardian gathered that Dr Arase told the visiting IGP and his team that since he assumed office, he had worked assiduously to bridge the yawning gap between the Police and PSC.

Confirming the development in a statement yesterday, Head, Press and Publicity for PSC, IkechukwuAni, said the two agencies are now working and bonding.

He said: “The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired IGP, on Tuesday, March 19, led the Management team of the Commission to receive IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, who visited the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja with the management team of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Arase said he has succeeded in stabilising the relationship between the Commission and the Police, adding that the two Institutions are now bonding in the interest of the nation’s internal security.

He noted that there may be problems and frictions but ” it is not insurmountable “.

He called on the Police management team to give the IGP the required support.
