A former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Festus Daumiebi, has called on the international community, President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the hierarchy of the Nigeria Army to come to his rescue over threat to his life after the invasion of his country home in Igbomoturu, Southern Ijaws Local Council, Bayelsa State for the second time.

Daumeibi, who had earlier instituted a legal action seeking a N20.4b as punitive, and special damages for infringing on his fundamental right to life, liberty, privacy, and freedom to own property against the Nigeria Army, after the March 30, 2024 invasion and partial destruction of the same property, said his life is now under threat after the second invasion and subsequent occupation of the said property.

The Nigerian Army on March 30, 2024, while on the search for the alleged mastermind of the killings of 17 soldiers in Okuama, a community in Delta State, invaded the Igbomoturo community in Bayelsa state, including the country home of the businessman and lawyer.

He said that even though the case, which the Federal High Court began hearing, was still on, troops of the Nigeria Army led by some civilians accomplices on Friday, May 31, invaded the property and took away items which include boots and life vests belonging to men of the Nigerian Security & Civilian Defence Corp occupying the compound.

Speaking during a media briefing in Yenagoa, at the weekend, Daumeibi said the repeat attack on his property has shown that the actions by men of the Nigerian Army stationed in Igbomotoru 11 are politically motivated.

He, therefore, called on Tinubu to call the Nigerian Army to order as his life and that of members of his family are in danger, just as his properties are also not safe.
