Obi urges youth to vote for Jonathan

peter obiTHE former Governor of Anambra State and the Deputy Director General of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Campaign Organisation, Mr. Peter Obi has called on the youth to vote for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the forth coming presidential  election.
Obi who spoke during the  South-East Youths Town Hall meeting at the Aladinmma Shopping Mall, Owerri, on Wednesday admonished them to shun sentiments on matters that border on their future, such as the election, emphasizing the importance of  scrutinizing the antecedents of those that offer themselves for service.

Waxing philosophical, he said: “ Man is a being that retrospects into the past, projects into the future so as to make a better present. We know the past of those contesting election and we must put that past into reckoning of what they will do
in future “Obi said.
On why the youth should vote for Jonathan, Obi said the president’s policies were youth-friendly.

“Apart from building  Almajiri and migrant schools, he also built 14 universities across the country,” Obi said.
He also emphasized many programmes, such as YouWin and Sure-p which the Federal Government under Jonathan has embarked on to empower the youth.

He reminded them that they are the agents of change in all
societies, “but not changing from modernity to antiquity as some
advocate, but by sustaining the change that Jonathan has initiated a long time ago.”

The Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha commended the youth for the wisdom in organizing such an
event. He said that it showed they had a stake in the Nigerian project. He called on them to vote for Jonathan as the President and himself as the Governor of Imo State because they all share the same vision propelled by the desire for the progress  and development of the country.
On his part, the President of the National Youth Council, Mr. Abdulahi Mabaisira thanked Ihedioha, Obi and other dignitaries for always identifying with the youth.
