THE Governing Council of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike has approved the appointment Prof. Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta as the new Vice-chancellor of school.
Otunta, a Professor of Mathematics, would on March 1, 2016 take over from the outgoing fourth Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Odo Edeoga, who rose to the Vice Chancellor position in 2011 after serving two terms as the university’s deputy VC.
A release endorsed by the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Anya O. Anya, said the appointment is for a single term of five years and with effect from March 1, 2016.
Born on April 29, 1958, Prof. Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta, who hails from Afikpo, Ebonyi State, was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Benin till August 2003 and also former Rector of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana (2006-2014).
