Kogi firm decries youth invasion, harassment

Ajaokuta-based BN Ceramic Industry Nigeria Limited has decried illegal invasion and harassment by youths acting under Pan-African Youths Development Network.

But the company’s management said it would not be deterred from pursuing its goal of supporting the growth of the economy.

The company reiterated its commitment to the development of its host community, especially through employment creation and social development despite challenges.

The Human Resources Manager of the company, Saliu Mohammed, spoke shortly after some youths allegedly invaded its premises and destroyed property worth millions of naira.

According to him, Pan-African Youths Development Network, accompanied by armed security operatives, invaded the company and threatened to deal with the management unless they were given N10 million.
Mohammed disclosed that the group capitalised on an auto crash outside the company’s premises that led to the death of two employees.

Immediately after the accident, he said, the management dispatched the company’s safety officers to the scene for rescue, and that those who sustained injury were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“Regrettably, two female staff of the company died on the spot,” he added.
