To ascertain the safety standards on ground for the passengers and tourists who shall be travelling from Abitto Ferry Jetty in Calabar to Nwaniba Timber Beach in Uyo, the National President, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Mr. Nkereuwem Onung accompanied by the FTAN Vice President (South-South), Mrs. Justina Ovat paid recently visited the ferry jetty site in Calabar.
According to the FTAN boss, aside from inspecting the standards and safety of the Abitto Ferry Jetty, the essence of the visit was also to congratulate Mr. Richard Akinaka and the Abitto team for the wonderful gesture.
Onung implored Abitto Ferry service management to not compromise on safety procedures and ensure that the ferries are well serviced as at when due and go through proper inspection before sailing.
Remarking on the development, General Manager, Abitto Ferry Jetty, Gloria Samuel who appreciated the visit by the FTAN team said the ferry’s construction involved 90 per cent of locally manufactured products in Henshaw Town, Calabar with top-notch quality products that also meets international safety standards.
She further said that the ferry was designed for passengers’ comfort, providing a relaxing environment to travel between Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. “With our well-structured and reliable time-table, passengers can plan their days with confidence, knowing that our ferries will run on time”, Gloria said.
Speaking, FTAN Vice President, (South-South), Ovat lauded the management of Abitto Ferry Jetty on the transportation initiative as she said, “this ferry operations will promote tourism activities with good opportunity for passengers and tourists to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Cross River and Akwa Ibom States landscapes. It will also be an avenue to experience water tourism.”
