A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Alh. Abdulmajid Danbiliki (Kwamanda), has cautioned the extraordinary caretaker committee of APC of the impending risk of holding the party’s convention scheduled for February 2022.
Besides, Danbiliki reminded that Nigerians are not happy with the government of APC at the Federal level considering the security and economic challenges bedeviling the nation.
Danbiliki, a stunt loyalist of President Muhammadu Buhari, who spoke with journalists yesterday in Kano, reminded that there are raging crises in several states that require urgent intervention before the convention.
The former CPC leader in Kano explained that no political party stride amidst divided structure argued that APC urgently needs to put her house in order to retain power at the centre come 2023.
He emphasised that despite the government’s claim on supporting and creating social welfare and empowering youth in the country, members of the party have suffered major neglect, having dedicated their entire life to support the party to power.
Danbiliki, who exonerated Buhari on the challenges facing the APC government, particularly heaped the blame on the president’s close associates and relatives from his Daura country home.
He said: “In my own opinion, I wouldn’t want us to rush. We need to consider the situation of the party in the country first. There are overwhelming crises in the party in so many states. There is the need for us to finish with the problems in the states first before any national convention can take place.
“One thing stands clear, that for all the politicians if the crises are not resolved before the national convention, it is going to affect and manifest there and disrupt it. This is very important to note. Hence, there is a need for the national convention to be suspended pending when the crises in the states are duly resolved.”
According to Danbiliki, even though the Federal Government is doing its best on security, the bloodshed taking place in the North as a result of insecurity is a clear indication that her best is not enough.
“When you talk of the North East, you will see that we are in a serious problem, they need to give the security operatives more time to calm the situation and give new hope to the people at the party. Even if you say relative peace is gradually returning, what about places like Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Niger, and Kaduna states. This is very scary.
“Presently there are a lot of people that have migrated from their places of abode some have even migrated to the Niger Republic. For this reason, the people are not happy with the party, they are annoyed with the leaders of the party.
“They feel they have wasted their time all along from 2002 to 2015 when the party came into power all as a result of their physical and financial efforts. They have contributed through buying cards to fund the party and they have succeeded only to fail. They did this to find peace,” he said.
On the return of the electoral bill to the National Assembly, Danbiliki regretted the presidential action on what he believed was intended to create a credible election in the country.
While insisting that the President was ill-advised to deny assent on the bill, Danbiliki accused those he described as political masquerades who are bent on sustaining their selfish interest in the corridor of power.
