Former lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I of Ekiti State, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele has prodded the elected federal lawmakers that would be inaugurated today to be good and worthy ambassadors of the State

Bamidele, who was elected in 2011 on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN), thanked the members of his constituency for giving him the opportunity to represent them at that high echelon of political representation, saying the gesture would forever be appreciated.

The PDP won the three senatorial and six House of Representatives seats during the March 28 presidential/National Assembly elections in the State.

A statement he personally signed in Ado Ekiti on Monday, said though the elected representatives were members of the opposition PDP, but reiterated that the charge became imperative in view of the people’s expectations for a better performance.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former chairman, House Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, urged the Ekiti intending National Assembly members that will be inaugurated today, to always put the corporate interest of their constituents above personal or parochial sentiments.

Bamidele while describing his experience as a member of the national assembly as very rewarding and worthwhile, lauded the electorate for their unflinching supports which makes him to survive the onslaught during his political sojourn out of the ACN and back to the APC.

He said: “Four years ago you elected me overwhelmingly to represent you in the House of Representatives in Abuja. Little did we both know that the journey would span a life time, going by the level of bonding that has since taken place and the amount of love that has been shared between you and I.

“Through thick and thin, good and bad times, anxiety and assurances, it was indeed a worthwhile and memorable experience. Beyond representing you on the floor of the House, I have had an unusual privilege of being a part of the personal social, political and economic lives of many of you.

“I have also had the privilege to reach out across the entire State as a true son of Ekiti and citizen of the entire State. In responding to your individual and varying social, economic and emotional stimuli as your elected Representative, we laughed together, cried together, stood by our values and what we believed in.
