FLYING Eagles goalkeepers’ trainer, Fancy Ewulu, has revealed that the performance of Bernard Bulbwa against Senegal in the final of the African Youth Championship (AYC) on Sunday did not surprise the team’s technical crew because they knew the quality in the lad.
Bulbwa scored a sensational goal to give Nigeria a 1-0 victory over Senegal in Dakar and earned the country its seventh African Youth Championship title.
Speaking on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos yesterday, Ewulu described Bulbwa as one of the country’s emerging talents, adding that the technical crew, led by Manu Garba, always knew that he could turn a game on its head at any moment.
According to him: “The goal scored by Bulbwa was a wonderful one and we have always encouraged him to take such risks because he is good. He has the ability and the way he did it made us very proud of him.”
