The Vice Chancellor, Kola Daisi University (KDU), Ibadan, Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, has charged matriculating students of the institution to be focused, disciplined and be determined not to derail from the journey of success they have embarked upon in the university.

Olatunbosun gave the charge at the institution’s sixth matriculating ceremony.

At the ceremony, 253 students were admitted into 100 level through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Direct Entry and transfer from other universities.

The VC urged them to be mindful of the type of association they make, advising them to have regular attendance at lectures and other areas of discipline to make a success of their journey.

According to him, the university prides itself on the pursuit of high-level academic standard and exposing students to relevant professional bodies and institutes to further enhance their competences in various disciplines, such as the institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ISCAN), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Nigeria Branch and others.

Olatunbosun said the university was also embarking on infrastructural development such as the construction of a 60-room capacity hall for female students and it is expected that this project will be completed before the end of 2022/2023 academic session.

He added that Kola Daisi Foundation is carrying out the construction of six medical buildings situated opposite the main campus in preparation for the establishment of the medical school being proposed to take off soon.

The VC, while thanking parents and guardians for giving their wards and children the opportunity of studying in the university, assured them that, as management and staff, they shall continually give their best in training them, both in character and learning.

Delivering a lecture, an Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Ibadan, Dr Olufade Onifade, encouraged students to be highly committed to the cause for which they are admitted into the university.

Onifade, while charging them to study hard to come out in flying colours, urged the students to allow the institution pass through them, just as they too pass through the university.

He also admonished them to live a balance life as students, adding that the power to make their destiny lies in them.
