Armed bandits, at the weekend, killed an 80-year-old woman, a ward leader, and three other persons in separate attacks in Chikun and Giwa councils of Kaduna State.
Three other persons were confirmed injured in an attack on travellers in Giwa.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the incidents, said that Governor Nasir el-Rufai implored security agencies to ensure the diligent investigation into the disturbing incidents.
GANG members of the late Terwase Akwaza (alias Gana) attacked Senga village in Katsina-Ala Council at the weekend, killing three farmers.
The gang members, The Guardian gathered, were dressed in military uniforms while carrying out the heinous attack.
The also reportedly razed many houses, rendering residents homeless.
Briefing newsmen in Makurdi yesterday, Security Adviser to the Governor, Lt-Col. Paul Hemba (rtd.), said the militants also invaded Dyom Village near Senga and burnt down many houses.
His words: “The militia boys were in military uniform and they attacked Senga village on Friday night, killed three persons, and burnt down many houses.”
Men of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) and other security agencies, he added, have arrested two suspects.
MEANWHILE, the crisis between the people of Atyap Chiefdom and the Fulani in Zangon Kataf Council may soon end, as the parties have agreed to sheathe their swords.
The Fulani, who fled their homes at the height of the violence, have agreed to return to Zangon Kataf after the meeting of stakeholders and top government officials at the weekend.
The incessant killings, maiming, burning of houses, and destruction of farmlands and livestock in Atyap between June and December 2020 also caused natives to flee their homes for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.
The meeting of the Atyap and Fulani youths on Saturday at the instance of the Agwar Atyap, Dr. Dominic Yahaya, was attended by top officials of the Kaduna government, the military, and other security operatives to harmonise modalities of avoiding future attacks and the return of peace to Atyap.
A communiqué issued signed by the Chairman of the meeting, the Makama Atyap, Suleiman Gora, and the co-chairman, Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa, condemned the killings and arson recorded in the Southern Kaduna Community.
