When Anikulapo: Rise of the Specter hits the Netflix platform, not many know how the Bashorun of Oyo character got his flow, and many are also not aware of how the Omowunmi character was played seamlessly.

Born into theater, raised by theater, sums up the background of the actor who delivered the role of Bashorun.

Being born into theater and raised by theater holds true, as Owo Ogunde (Bashorun) is the son of famed actor Hubert Ogunde.

There is no recounting of the history of film in Nigeria without listing Hubert Ogunde. Deemed the father of Nigerian theater, and the father of contemporary Yoruba theater, his impact on Nigerian cinema was so profound that his passing in 1990 was felt deeply.

Decades later, it seems that his story hasn’t ended, as his son, Owo Ogunde, is set to continue in his father’s giant footsteps with Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.

Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre is a series that numerous people are anticipating, as it is the sequel to the highly successful 2022 film, Anikulapo.

As incredible as it is, Owo Ogunde is not the only one following in his father’s footsteps; 18-year-old actress Eyiyemi Afolayan is following an even longer line of footsteps from her grandfather, Adeyemi Afolayan fondly called Ade Love , the prolific actor who stole everyone’s heart, her father, Kunle Afolayan and her uncle, Gabriel Afolayan.

While Kunle Afolayan serves as the director of Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre and has recorded countless wins in his long career, he will undoubtedly shine even brighter with his daughter right by his side.

Eyiyemi describes herself as a Yoruba child, and that much is true.

From a family of incredible Yoruba actors and filmmakers, it is obvious that she holds onto her cultural heritage quite firmly and has previously shown this with her previous performance in Anikulapo, released in 2022.

Eyiyemi made a return to the screen in the sequel alongside Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Taiwo Hassan, Moji Afolayan, who were all cast members of the first film, and new additions like Gabriel Afolayan, Layi Wasabi, Niyi Johnson, Titi Kuti, and Damilola Ogunsi.

Owo Ogunde and Eyiyemi Afolayan not only have heavy lineages in common, but they also have an unmissable passion for their craft in common.

In the series, Eyiyemi stars as Princess Omowunmi, and Ogunde, on the other hand, as Bashorun. These two stars are Yoruba excellence personified, and it’s impossible not to wonder what to expect from them in the series.
