LEGAL luminary and lead counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate in Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has alleged that Governor Rochas Okorocha was threatening to kill him.

Ahamba’s allegation yesterday was contained in a statement he titled, “Governor Rochas Okorocha is threatening my life,” stating that the threat was made when Okorocha addressed some monarchs in the state last week.

According to him, the governor allegedly warned his wife during the burial of Dr. Peter Odili’s mother-in-law in Imo State on June 13, when he told the monarchs that he would “extract pound of flesh from us.”

Ahamba said he had regarded the previous threats as “social jokes” but only took them serious when he learnt of Okorocha’s “hit squad,” adding that he had practiced for 41 years.

In a swift reaction, however, Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the governor never made such threat, adding that Ahamba was not in any way giving him sleepless night in the case. He challenged Ahamba to show proof of any case he has won that gives him the hope victory at the tribunal.

However, Ahamba statement read in part, “I was informed that Rochas Okorocha, who is generally rumoured to have a hit squad, has instructed them to stop me and my special assistant, who is a key witness, if I remain stubborn to his warnings to withdraw the election petition.

“I decided to issue this statement to inform the Nigerian public at home and abroad and security agencies.”
