As part of activities marking its 50th anniversary, the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), held a fitness walk yesterday, to promote all-round wellness among association members, staff of marketing communication agencies and the public.

According to a statement signed by the Senior Public Relations Specialist, Ayomide Oriade, the fitness walk, held in Lagos, was led by AAAN President, Steve Babaeko; Chairman, AAAN Board of Trustees, Sir Steve Omojafor and other executives of the association.

The walk also featured an aerobics session by I-Fitness, as well as free Prostate Cancer screening for participants by The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation. The fitness walk was also supported by McVitie’s and 12 Baskets Foods.

Speaking at the AAAN Secretariat – the takeoff point of the walk, Babaeko said exercise is key to all round body and mental wellness and the association is providing support for physically challenged children, as part of its golden jubilee celebration.

“Physical exercises promote mental sharpness and help create a healthier workforce. AAAN is 50 years young. We feel youthful, vibrant, trendy, and healthy.

We are using this part of our golden jubilee celebration to promote physical and mental health awareness among our member agencies.

“As part of giving back to the society, the association is also making donations to a school for mentally and physically challenged children, to support and make life easier for these children,” he said.

The walk, held in the Ikeja axis of Lagos, started from the AAAN secretariat at Jobi Fele Way, and proceeded through M.K.O Abiola Gardens Road, into CIPM Avenue, connected Hakeem Balogun Street and back to the AAAN Secretariat.

AAAN 50th anniversary celebration commenced with the logo unveiling ceremony recently held in Lagos.  Other activities lined up for the anniversary include a mini golf tournament for charity, anniversary lecture, industry night, the AAAN annual general meeting and award/gala night.

Founded in 1973 as a sectorial body in the marketing industry, AAAN is the umbrella body that coordinates and promotes the interest of Advertising Agencies in Nigeria.
